CRTC invites comments on the future of 9-1-1 services

OTTAWA-GATINEAU, October 10, 2013 — Today, the Canadian Radio-television
and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) made public a report on 911
services and invited Canadians to share their views on its findings and
recommendations. The CRTC is also asking Canadians to identify and
prioritize the matters within its jurisdiction that should be addressed

Over 2,000,000 calls, both 9-1-1 and non-emergency 416-808-2222 calls, were placed to the Communications Call Centre in Toronto in 2011. That is a 7% increase in call volume since 2010. Of the over 2,000,000 calls made, 227,000 were placed to 9-1-1 directly. Read the rest of this entry »
