High Park Cherry Blossom Festival, Saturday, May 4, 2019, to Monday, May 13, 2019, High Park Traffic Closures

From Saturday, May 4, 2019 to Monday, May 13, 2019, the annual Cherry Blossom Festival, will take place in High Park.

High Park will be closed to all non-essential vehicles 24 hours a day, starting on Saturday, May 4 at 7 a.m. The closure will remain in effect until the conclusion of the Festival, which is expected to be no later than Monday, May 13, 2019. 

Motorists can expect delays in the area and should consider alternate methods of transportation when visiting High Park.

Alternatively, there are multiple locations throughout the city with large concentrations of Cherry trees that will be in bloom. View Cherry Blossom Festival locations

The festival will take place regardless of weather conditions.

2019 Greek Independence Day Parade, Sunday, March 24, 2019, at 1 p.m., Danforth Avenue From Donlands Avenue to Broadview Avenue

On Sunday, March 24, 2019, at 1 p.m., the 2019 Greek Independence Day Parade will take place. Road closures will be in place for all or part of the day. 

The parade will follow the route of:

– northbound, Euston Avenue from Donlands Avenue, full closure

– westbound, Danforth Avenue from Donlands Avenue to Broadview Avenue, full closure

The parade will end at Broadview Avenue, at approximately 3 p.m.

Motorists can expect delays in the area and should consider alternate methods of transportation. The TTC may experience delays. The parade will take place regardless of weather conditions.

On Thursday, March 21, 2019, between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m., members of the Toronto Police Financial Crimes Unit will be joined by members of Toronto Hydro, for #FraudChat. 

The purpose is to answer questions regarding Hydro Fraud and the different ways fraudsters are targeting Toronto Hydro customers and how to spot and stop scams. 

Members of the public can follow the Toronto Police Financial Crimes Unit, Detective Regan and Detective Constable Kelly, and Toronto Hydro using the hashtags @ReganFCU @DKellyFCU @TPSFCU and @TorontoHydro on Twitter.

To follow #FraudChat, members of the public can log on to Twitter from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and follow the #FraudChat hashtag. An application such as “Tweetdeck,” which allows users to separately view tweets containing this hashtag, is also helpful in following the chat.

#FraudChat is an online program that seeks to educate and exchange ideas with the public about financial crimes and fraud. March is Fraud Prevention Month which is spearheaded by the Competition Bureau @CompBureau.
