HISTORIC BLACK EDUCATIONAL ADVOCACY GROUP LAUNCHES GROUNDBREAKING CAPITAL CAMPAIGN
Washington, D.C. – The National Alliance of Black School Educators (NABSE) is kicking off a Capital Campaign to retire its mortgage and to renovate its existing building at 310 Pennsylvania Avenue, SE, Washington, D.C. The $1.5 million effort will seek contributions from non-profit foundations, businesses and corporations, affiliates, past presidents and life members.
With the facility paid off NABSE can better offer viable, robust programming, and greater opportunities to serve the educational needs of African American students, teachers and parents. The historical culture of the organization’s volunteerism, care, giving, and doing can be traced to a deep sense of advocacy for social justice in Black communities.
“The Capital Campaign will allow us to foster and expand the spirit of our work by assuring that we maintain a National headquarters where we can continue to create, advocate, and educate. Retiring our mortgage will allow us to concentrate on serious programmatic efforts to shape the educational policy for children of color in the United States to succeed.” said President Marietta English.
The National Alliance of Black School Educators is the nation’s premier non-profit organization devoted to furthering the academic success for the nation’s children- particularly children of African descent. NABSE boasts an outreach to more than 10,000 preeminent educators including teachers, administrators, superintendents as well as corporate and institutional members. Founded in 1970, NABSE is dedicated to improving both the educational experiences and accomplishments of African-American youth through the development and use of instructional and motivational methods that increase levels of inspiration, attendance and overall achievement.
