BSA Political Film Screening: Boyz N The Hood, Jan 23rd.
And The Film Screenings Continue
BSA presents you with another Political Film Screening: John Daniel Singelton’s Boyz N The Hood. Tre (Cuba Gooding Jr.) is sent to live with his father, Furious Styles (Larry Fishburne), in tough South Central Los Angeles. Although his hard-nosed father instills proper values and respect in him, and his devoted girlfriend Brandi (Nia Long) teaches him about faith, Tre’s friends Doughboy (Ice Cube) and Ricky (Morris Chestnut) don’t have the same kind of support and are drawn into the neighborhood’s booming drug and gang culture, with increasingly tragic results.
Financial Literacy! Tues, Jan 29th, 7-8: 30 pm, Black Study Hall (Wetmore Hall Basement)
Building Your Economic Legacy
Become for financially literate about budgeting, managing credit, understanding your credit rating, amongst other important topics of discussion! Some of which are never actually taught in school but essential to life!
Let’s Talk About It! Jan 31st – 6-9pm. Location TBA.
Real Talks w/ Black, Cis-Het, and LGBTQ+ Women
This Talk is for having an open, raw, and authentic discussion about black women, their experiences, struggles, successes, relationships, and everything in-between. The purpose of this community discussion is to engage, empower, and uplift black women within their identities and as they choose to exist within them, which further enables black women as individuals who can unapologetically exist in a world that consistently disempowers and disenfranchises them.
