The excitement was in the air as Artscape Daniels Launchpad opened its doors to members on November 1st offering them a first chance to check out their new creative home base. All 30,000 sq. ft. of creative production studios, and event and co-working spaces are now ready for creative experimentation, innovation, and production.

The Journey raises over $1M for youth arts programming
From November 7-10, the stage in Ada Slaight Hall came alive at Daniels Spectrum for multiple performances of the outstanding musical, The Journey – A Living History of the Regent Park Revitalization, presented by Innocon. This year, through generous community donations, the production raised over $1 million in support of youth arts programming and sustainability at Daniels Spectrum.

Open HXOUSE at Launchpad attracts 2 million Twitter viewers
Just days after opening, Artscape Daniels Launchpad played host to the kick off of our partner HXOUSE’s Toronto presence at Launchpad with Open HXOUSE. On November 5th and 6th, Launchpad was the place to be for more than 1200 creatives and 2 million live-streaming viewers, who over two days soaked up panel discussions featuring a star-studded line up of guests including: Doctor Woo, Swizz Beatz, Halsey, Wondagurl, Daniel Arsham, Mustafa the Poet, Boi-1da and OPN.

TAXED OUT exhibit continues
Reminding all urbanists that the TAXED OUT exhibit continues until December 14, 2018, at the Urbanspace Gallery at cultural hub 401 Richmond. Curated by the Ryerson Citybuilding Institute, the exhibit features the work and words of Artscape and others working to find solutions to ensure that businesses, artists and organizations don’t get taxed out of the places they have helped bring vibrancy to.

Meet Guitarist Joel Reid
Joel Reid is a guitarist whose passion for music and skill working with youth in the community development sector led him to start SoundCheck Youth Arts, an organization that has helped young people in the Weston-Mount Dennis community reach their full potential through music. Joel, his wife, and their baby daughter will soon be moving into their new home in Artscape Weston Common.

Artscape presents ‘Making Space for Culture Toolkit’ at WCCF Summit
Artscape’s Creative Placemaking Lab had the pleasure this month of sitting down with deputy mayors and leading culture policymakers from around the world to discuss policy and strategies for creating and protecting creative spaces. While participating in the World Cities Culture Summit in San Francisco, the Creative Placemaking Lab led a workshop developed in partnership with BOP Consulting in London to showcase and develop our Making Space for Culture toolkit.
