Surfaces with First-of-its-Kind Paint Gun
Unique gun paints railings, fences, garden furniture and other metal objects four times faster than a brush, coating both sides of a surface at once.
Longueuil, Québec – May 7, 2009 – Does the thought of painting your metal railing, fence or garden furniture leave you wanting to head back indoors? You can brush away your worries with the launch of a first-of-its-kind paint gun that takes the effort out of painting exterior metal surfaces.
The Corrostop® Metalmaster™ electrostatic paint gun is a cordless, lightweight application tool that coats paint on metal exterior surfaces four times faster than a brush, covering both sides of a surface at once and leaving no brush marks. Developed using 3D Wrap™ Precision Technology, the gun gives a static electric-type charge to the paint that causes it to magnetize towards and wrap around ferrous metal objects such as iron and steel handrails, fences, swings, ornaments, bicycles and garden furniture. The technology makes it possible to cover difficult-to-reach areas and paint both the front and back of objects, such as railings, from just one side.
“Our market research shows that consumers are hesitant to paint exterior metal surfaces, perceiving the job to be too difficult, long and tedious,” said Nathalie Lambert, Metalcare Marketing Manager for AkzoNobel Decorative Paints Canada, which has introduced the product to the Canadian market. “The Corrostop Metalmaster provides Canadians with a quick and easy solution to paint and protect their exterior metal, while ensuring professional and long-lasting results,” she said, adding that until now, the only electrostatic paint systems on the market were very costly, commercial systems targeted at professionals.
Simple to use, the Corrostop Metalmaster is made up of two parts – the paint gun and a canister containing anti-rust exterior paint. With the Corrostop Metalmaster, there’s no need for a primer or undercoat. Users simply insert the paint canister into the battery-operated gun, attach a grounding clip to the object being painted and start applying, with only one coat of paint required in most cases. Unlike an aerosol, the Corrostop Metalmaster has little overspray or mess – with 90 per cent of paint reaching the object being painted – and has two times more protection per coat than a regular paint.
With each canister covering up to 12 metres of average-sized railings – five times more than an aerosol spray – the paint is available in a glossy smooth finish in black, white, grey and brown, and in a glossy hammered finish in silver grey. Applied between 10°C and 32°C , the paint dries in two to four hours and requires standard maintenance only once every five years. Since there’s no direct contact between the paint and gun, clean up is mess-free.
Available as of mid-May in paint and hardware stores across Canada, the Corrostop Metalmaster retails for $64.99 for the gun and $24.99 for the canister. For more information about the Corrostop Metalmaster or to find a retailer near you, please visit www.akzonobel.com or call 1-800-463-7426.
