Annual General Meeting is Soon Approaching!
Our second AGM will fill you in on what we have planned

HELLO EVERYBODY AND HAPPY NEW YEAR! We’re hoping that everyone has yet another positive and healthy semester!

The Black Students’ Association at UofT are proud to invite you to our second General Meeting for the year as well as an info session for the months ahead!

Here you will find out about all the exciting events we have planned for the semester as well as all the information you need to know about the BSA! PLUS, it’s a great way to reconnect with everyone!

For the second half the meeting, we will be holding a vision board creation workshop so please come equipped with at least 2 magazines to make this possible! Changes to the constitution will also be voted on at this meeting.

If you are a first year student looking to meet other first year black students this is the event for you!

We all know that first year experience is hard enough, from trying to find effective ways to study to building a new social life. But as black students it is even more difficult to find other black students in your classes or program to connect to.

This event will help first year students expand their contacts and enjoy a night filled with great music and great people all planned by Lola Ajao, our First Year Rep!

#BlackOnCampusUofT Town Hall Pt. II
How do we successfully tackle anti-black racism on campus? 

Back by popular demand! Thank you to everyone for their support and attendance at our first Town Hall denouncing anti-black racism on this campus. As we look into the future, we want to turn this situation in the Engineering department as a push into finding effective ways to propel an anti-black racism campaign on campus.

Together as a community let’s brainstorm ways we can effectively resolve acts of anti-black racism, and help uplift each other as a community.

Scholarships Galore!
BBPA is providing black students with $1,000-$5,000 in scholarships

The BBPA National Scholarship Fund was established in 1986 and is dedicated to supporting and promoting the achievement of academic excellence by Black Canadian youth through an annual scholarship program.

Scholarships are awarded in three categories:

BBPA Legacy Scholarships, in the names of Black Canadians who enriched Canada with their contributions in the arts, the professions, science, business, technology, politics and other areas of endeavour;

First Generation Scholarships, funded by the investment income from a grant from the Government of Ontario and available exclusively to students residing in Ontario that are the first in their family to attend university or college; and

Sponsored or Named Scholarships funded directly by corporations or individuals in the name of the corporation or individual; or established in the memory of a relative.
The Legacy Scholarships are funded from donations to the General Fund and investment income from the Endowment Fund.

Black and Educated? Unveiling The Contradictions and Redesigning The Future 
Delivered by Chizoba Imoka and moderated by Dr. Kofi Hope as apart of Hart Houses Hancock Lecture

In an education system based on Western values and knowledge, Black students go through school feeling alienated and graduate ill-equipped to bring about transformative changes in their communities. Is it not time to restructure the system?

Chizoba Imoka disrupts the perceived Black and “Educated” contradiction and advances an alternative vision of education that acknowledges colonial history, is responsive to socio-political concerns and enables a new generation of social justice leaders to make real change.

Following her presentation, Chizoba will be joined by a Rhodes Scholar, Doctor of Philosophy in Politics, community activist and youth advocate, Kofi Hope for an onstage discussion.

Where: Great Hall, Hart House
When: Tues., Jan. 23, 2018, 7-9 pm

Façons naturelles d’arrêter la transpiration excessive – Mais rappelez-vous … La transpiration est très bon pour vous !!!

Des moyens naturels pour arrêter la transpiration excessive
Tout le monde sue dans les aisselles parce que nos corps ont juste été faits pour fonctionner de cette façon. Cependant, la transpiration peut aussi s’accompagner d’une horrible odeur qui peut causer beaucoup de problèmes. Non seulement l’odeur crée des problèmes, mais les taches sur vos vêtements ne sont probablement pas vos trucs préférés dans le monde non plus. Voici ce que vous devez savoir pour arrêter naturellement ou diminuer la transpiration excessive.

Tous les déodorants ne sont pas pleins de produits chimiques. Certaines marques sont assez naturelles, et par conséquent, vous devriez vous sentir à l’aise de l’appliquer. Certaines grandes marques incluent Natural Tom & Burt’s Bees. Vous pouvez également utiliser du savon naturel pour minimiser les sténoses – assurez-vous d’utiliser au moins deux fois par jour.

Poudre de talc
Beaucoup de gens ont réussi à endiguer la transpiration des aisselles en utilisant de la poudre de talc. Ce n’est vraiment bénéfique que si vous avez une légère transpiration des aisselles. La poudre de talc absorbera la transpiration et réduira les odeurs. Vous devez cependant utiliser de très grandes quantités de poudre de talc.

Aliments – Allez beaucoup plus léger sur les protéines et les graisses. Les fibres et les fruits aideront à la transpiration excessive. Une fois que vous avez l’habitude de manger ces deux pour une longue période de temps, il peut très bien résoudre les problèmes de transpiration excessive! Poids – Perdre du poids aidera à éliminer la transpiration excessive. C’est parce que devoir bouger plus de poids prend plus d’énergie et vous fait transpirer. Ce sont des mathématiques simples, en fait.
