new_500

Aries ( 21 March – 19 April ) – This is an important week in which you can reap what you’ve sown, but also a time to make considerable progress towards your goals and along your life path. This period bodes well for relationships and your interactions with other people generally. This is a good time to meet new people, reconnect with old friends and for dealing with the public. Romantically you should be prepared to make an effort to get out and about, to make the first move and approach others rather than sit back and wait. Favorable Dates : Mar 4 Favorable Colors : Green & Yellow

Taurus ( 20 April – 20 May ) – There will be many occasions when you will need to make quick decisions about career and business. It will be better to go after the gut feelings. Since fortunate planets will keep helping, all decisions will turn out favorable. There is a strong chance of an addition in the family for those looking forward. You will also benefit from advice given by a mature and elderly person. It will be better to get rid of few ungrateful friends from your life. Health will be fine and it will be another great week for you. Favorable Dates : Mar 1 Favorable Colors : White & Yellow

Gemini ( 21 May – 20 June ) – You will make tremendous progress in career. Hard work and patience will keep paying off in shape of rich financial rewards. Few promotions for those in service are not at all out of question. People in business will expand their horizons by buying more locations but still in the same field. Try to put some money away the moment you receive and you will be surprised at the end of week to see the balance This would be a great time to get out and about locally, to expand your social network and team up with kindred spirits who share your values, vision and ideals. Favorable Dates : Mar 3 Favorable Colors : White & Blue Read the rest of this entry »

Ain’t Nothing Uglier Than Gossip and Backbiting

In Writing (all kinds) on February 21, 2017 at 4:13 PM

By Saad Zafar

I have discovered a new distaste for gossip and backbiting. Actually, it’s not so much a “new” distaste rather than a rediscovered distaste for it whilst accompanied with the realization that I have — for so long — unwittingly engaged in such a distasteful practice all the while assuming that my partaking in it is merely harmless fun and not hurtful in the slightest.

It is only when one learns that one has become the subject of gossip and backbiting that one realizes how wrong it is and how there is no such thing as “harmless backbiting.”

The root of it all seems to be the misguided notion that kicking people when they are down elevates you. But rather, the opposite is true.

Backbiting does not elevate you. It destroys you from within and robs you of your innate goodness and decency when you engage in it.

If there’s any good that has come from my realization, it is the firm resolve never to do it again in spite of how “harmless” or trivial it may seem.

After all, being the subject of gossip is not something we can truly empathize with, I feel, until we experience it ourselves.

Traffic Services
416-808-1900

From Monday, February 20, 2017 to Sunday, February 26, 2017, Toronto Police Service Traffic Services will conduct “That Text or Call Could End It All,” a campaign targeting distracted driving.

This one-week initiative will highlight all dangerous activities associated with drivers who talk, text, type, dial or email using hand-held communication and entertainment devices. This campaign will incorporate the use of a hearse and both stealth and fully marked police vehicles.

All police officers will be paying special attention to those drivers who choose to drive while distracted. Distracted driving is any action that a driver engages in that takes their focus away from the safe operation of their vehicle. It includes, but is not limited to, the use of hand-held communication and entertainment devices. Distracted drivers are a safety risk to themselves and other road-users. The Toronto Police Service is committed to ensuring the safety of everyone using the roads in and around our city.

The use of hand-held communication and entertainment devices while driving is known to distract drivers from driving safely. Legislation is in place which has created specific offences for this driving behaviour.

Since 2011 the Toronto Police Service has laid over 109,000 charges for offences related to distracted driving.

The campaign will be officially launched on Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at Toronto Police Service Traffic Services, 9 Hanna Avenue, between 6 a.m. and 11 a.m.

I don’t think one chooses music. I truly believe it chooses one. I was asked recently why I’m such a fan of indie music. I remember saying something like, ‘well, I suppose I was born that way. Can’t say the same for my interlocutor.

It is reported that:

– on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at approximately 1 a.m., in the Dufferin Street and Rogers Road area of Toronto, a 23-year-old woman was approached from behind by a man, dragged into a laneway, and sexually assaulted

At that time, the man was described as brown, mid-20s, 5’5″ – 5’6″, with a slight beard. He was wearing a black baseball hat, a black, zippered, hooded sweater with white drawstrings, black T-shirt and black baggy jeans.

It is further reported that:

– the incident occurred at approximately 1:20 a.m., on Birch Street at Second Street in Collingwood

From the investigation that followed, OPP investigators have determined that the man is described as brown, late-20s-to-early-30s, average build with a large mid-section, thin beard, 5’6’ – 5’7”, wearing a blue T-shirt, black pants and a black baseball cap with a white logo.

He was driving a 2005-2010 four-door silver/gray or tan sedan with black steel rims.

I often refer to the music-loving Socrates as Nietzsche portrays him in his work Birth of Tragedy. Music is the best form of language, per Socrates. And I concur fully not just because it is Socrates’ attitude per Nietzsche but because I happen to share the same attitude experientially. So, those who get mad over not getting showered with attention when music is playing an active part in the discourse need to, well, find other ways to cope.

MANISH’S ZODIAC SIGNS PREDICTIONS ( 13th Feb – 19th Feb )

In Writing (all kinds) on February 13, 2017 at 3:00 AM

new_500

Aries (21 March – 19 April) – This week  will make you face a relational situation on which you have to reflect, that might need a choice, a decision. A friend could help see things more clearly, to decide more easily what you have to do. The second half might bring you in the position of making a more serious choice. You’ll benefit from going with the more secure and wiser solution, even if it’s more difficult and it doesn’t promise immediate results. Maintain good relations with your spouse and do not give any scope for any sort of misunderstanding as it may likely to lead some disputes. Favorable Date : Feb 18 Favorable Colors : Red & White

Taurus ( 20 April – 20 May ) – This period can take you to experiences full of mystery and adrenaline, but which also exposes you to deceptive, unreal perceptions. If you have an exam to sit, an interview, a test or if you expect your professional abilities to be tested in other ways, you have to prepare for it seriously, because you’ll be on mined field. There’s a tendency towards idealism and confusion in love that makes things quite blurred for you and exposes you to disappointments. This week might also bring indecision, lack of concentration, communication problems.  Favorable Date : Feb 17  Favorable Colors : Blue & Yellow

Gemini (21 May – 20 June) – Thorough preparation at an earlier stage will allow you to act in accordance with your intended plan, consistently following through tasks. The need for affection will be very high but it will have a difficult time finding fulfilment. Any stimulus should be born within you; you yourself must become the initiator. You’ll have good tonus, but you’ll tend to overdo it, to become aggressive and take on risky situations that could harm your health among other things. Distance yourselves from speculative activities as heavy loss of money is indicated. Favorable Date : Feb 13 Favorable Colors : Blue & Red Read the rest of this entry »

Sofia Coppola’s Lost in Translation (2003) is another good Fall title for me. It takes place in Tokyo and the most relatable bits in the film are Charlotte and Bob, the two main characters, exploring the busy, urban streets of Tokyo together, thus sharing their isolated togetherness and bonding in a place where the leading currency is utter linguistic unfamiliarity and unequivocal confusion.

More Exhaustive List of Hair Oils

In Writing (all kinds) on February 6, 2017 at 12:11 PM

Here is my list of my personal apothecary of hair oils. Some of them are similar and/or the same as the ones mentioned above. It took me a long time to accumulate this many oils. For you it may take a shorter period of time if this is something that you want. I tend to put all of the oils into my hair and combine them with a clear spray bottle that is rather large from the Dollar Store that I bought for no more than two dollars Canadian. Here is the list. Abyssinian oil: also known as crambe seed oil, this oil is considered a new item in the hair oil market. Good for adding moisture and avoiding wrinkles.

Agar oil: also known as oodh and people love how it smells. This one I have yet to own.

Ajwain oil: distilled from leaves. Good for your hair. This one I have yet to own too.Almond oil: Contains important ingredients such as Omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin E. This oil nourishes and strengthens the hair and is vital for avoidance of hair loss and repairing hair damage.

Aloe Vera oil: helps to treat dry scalp and dandruff for hair. This oil is excellent for growing hair of all hair types. Try to avoid aloe vera gel if you have problems dealing with products that contain alcohol for either your hair and/or skin. The presence of alcohol can have an extremely drying effect on your skin or on your scalp. Read the rest of this entry »
