Brikena Ribaj Reviews the Musical Work of Camille Nelson

By Brikena Ribaj

This is Camille Nelson, my very good friend.

Camille Nelson is one of my all-time favorite people. Among so many other things, she is also an artist par excellence. Camille is also the one who patiently taught me how to play the guitar, the one with whom I’ve had many an adventure over the years, and the one who simply excels at all she does. And she manages to do it all by being unapologetically good and quintessentially Camille.

Eligible Dividends

For purposes of the Income Tax Act (Canada) and any similar provincial legislation, all of the above dividends on the Corporation’s preferred and common shares are eligible dividends.

Non-IFRS Financial Measures and Presentation

In analyzing the financial results of the Corporation and consistent with the presentation in previous periods, net earnings attributable to common shareholders are comprised of:

  • operating earnings attributable to common shareholders; and
  • other items or non-operating earnings, which include the after-tax impact of any item that in management’s judgment would make the period-over-period comparison of results from operations less meaningful. Other items include the Corporation’s share of items presented as other items or non-operating earnings by a subsidiary or a jointly controlled corporation or associate.

Management uses these financial measures in its presentation and analysis of the financial performance of Power Financial, and believes that they provide additional meaningful information to readers in their analysis of the results of the Corporation. Operating earnings, as defined by the Corporation, assist the reader in comparing the current period’s results to those of previous periods as items that are not considered to be ongoing operating activities are excluded from this non-IFRS measure.

Operating earnings attributable to common shareholders and operating earnings per share are non-IFRS financial measures that do not have a standard meaning and may not be comparable to similar measures used by other entities.

The Corporation also uses a non-consolidated basis of presentation to present and analyze its results, financial position and cash flows. In this basis of presentation, Power Financial’s interests in Lifeco and IGM are accounted for using the equity method. Presentation on a non-consolidated basis is a non-IFRS presentation. However, it is useful to the reader as it presents the holding company’s (parent) results separately from the results of its operating subsidiaries.

Forward-Looking Statements

Certain statements in this news release, other than statements of historical fact, are forward-looking statements based on certain assumptions and reflect the Corporation’s current expectations, or with respect to disclosure regarding the Corporation’s public subsidiaries, reflect such subsidiaries’ disclosed current expectations. Forward-looking statements are provided for the purposes of assisting the reader in understanding the Corporation’s financial performance, financial position and cash flows as at and for the periods ended on certain dates and to present information about management’s current expectations and plans relating to the future and the reader is cautioned that such statements may not be appropriate for other purposes. These statements may include, without limitation, statements regarding the operations, business, financial condition, expected financial results, performance, prospects, opportunities, priorities, targets, goals, ongoing objectives, strategies and outlook of the Corporation and its subsidiaries, as well as the outlook for North American and international economies for the current fiscal year and subsequent periods. Forward-looking statements include statements that are predictive in nature, depend upon or refer to future events or conditions, or include words such as “expects”, “anticipates”, “plans”, “believes”, “estimates”, “seeks”, “intends”, “targets”, “projects”, “forecasts” or negative versions thereof and other similar expressions, or future or conditional verbs such as “may”, “will”, “should”, “would” and “could”.

By its nature, this information is subject to inherent risks and uncertainties that may be general or specific and which give rise to the possibility that expectations, forecasts, predictions, projections or conclusions will not prove to be accurate, that assumptions may not be correct and that objectives, strategic goals and priorities will not be achieved. A variety of factors, many of which are beyond the Corporation’s and its subsidiaries’ control, affect the operations, performance and results of the Corporation and its subsidiaries and their businesses, and could cause actual results to differ materially from current expectations of estimated or anticipated events or results. These factors include, but are not limited to: the impact or unanticipated impact of general economic, political and market factors in North America and internationally, interest and foreign exchange rates, global equity and capital markets, management of market liquidity and funding risks, changes in accounting policies and methods used to report financial condition (including uncertainties associated with critical accounting assumptions and estimates), the effect of applying future accounting changes, business competition, operational and reputational risks, technological change, changes in government regulation and legislation, changes in tax laws, unexpected judicial or regulatory proceedings, catastrophic events, the Corporation’s and its subsidiaries’ ability to complete strategic transactions, integrate acquisitions and implement other growth strategies, and the Corporation’s and its subsidiaries’ success in anticipating and managing the foregoing factors.

The reader is cautioned to consider these and other factors, uncertainties and potential events carefully and not to put undue reliance on forward-looking statements. Information contained in forward-looking statements is based upon certain material assumptions that were applied in drawing a conclusion or making a forecast or projection, including management’s perceptions of historical trends, current conditions and expected future developments, as well as other considerations that are believed to be appropriate in the circumstances, including that the list of factors in the previous paragraph, collectively, are not expected to have a material impact on the Corporation and its subsidiaries. While the Corporation considers these assumptions to be reasonable based on information currently available to management, they may prove to be incorrect.

Other than as specifically required by applicable Canadian law, the Corporation undertakes no obligation to update any forward-looking statement to reflect events or circumstances after the date on which such statement is made, or to reflect the occurrence of unanticipated events, whether as a result of new information, future events or results, or otherwise.

Additional information about the risks and uncertainties of the Corporation’s business and material factors or assumptions on which information contained in forward-looking statements is based is provided in its disclosure materials, including its most recent Management’s Discussion and Analysis and Annual Information Form, filed with the securities regulatory authorities in Canada and available at www.sedar.com.

Buhler Industries Reports 2nd Quarter Earnings

In Writing (all kinds) on November 28, 2016 at 3:00 AM
(TSX:BUI)

WINNIPEG, May 12, 2016 /CNW/ –

Sales
Revenue for the quarter was $81.0 million, up $16.3 million from the prior year second quarter. Revenue for the first six months of 2016 was $117.3 million, down $7.5 million from 2015. Weak commodity prices continue to contribute to reduce sales levels for the Company. Sales in North America have declined from the prior years, particularly in the US. Sales to Eastern Europe have increased significantly, especially in the second quarter.

Net Earnings
Net earnings of $1.5 were up from earnings of $0.4 for the second quarter of 2015. For the year to date, net earnings were ($7.2), down from $1.9 in the prior year. Contributing to the increased earnings for the quarter was a $4.3 gain on sale of intellectual property and tooling from an obsolete product line offset by decreased margin and a recovery of income taxes relating to prior years that did not repeat in the current year.

Looking Forward
Sales for the remaining part of the year are expected to be in line with first and second quarter sales. Sales and profitability for the year are projected to be lower as demand for agricultural equipment continues to be off in 2016 as a result of lower commodity prices. Dealer inventory in Canada and the United States for four wheel drives has dropped to its lowest point in the last few years. Company inventory levels have also been dropping to reflect the reduced demand and will continue to drop in 2016 increasing cash flow. Gross margin and operating margin continue to be weak due to reduced production efficiencies created by lower sales. In addition, increased competition for equipment sales will lead to lower margins due to additional sales programs being added. Finally, the weaker Canadian dollar continues to have a significant negative impact on the Company with parts purchased in US dollars with the majority of sales projected to be done in Canada during the year.

The road unrolls before him, cracked and purple-grey. The pavement is worn but good, better than that behind him, cratered and half-repaired with uneven disks of tar. On either side, trees slide past the corners of his eyes, their branches reaching for his arms. Beyond the trees, the hunched forms of hills, shadowed and filmed with pale green, rise and fall. He feels the hum of the tires in his chest, right through to his heart. It is pure joy.

Hard Work

Nick Goodwin Does Not Want Stress to Rule His Life - Photo: MorgueFile.com

Nick Goodwin Does Not Want Stress to Rule His Life – Photo: MorgueFile.com

By Nick Goodwin

Hard work. Sometimes I feel that I know the definition of it. Truly, I do not. I have the vision of where I want to be with my successes. This is what sets the tone for how hard I must work. Lately I am coming to discover just how much work is involved with reaching your goals. Endless efforts.

My plan is to stay organized. I am able to think a lot more clearly if everything around me in my life is taken care of. However, it is impossible to live a completely stress-free life. When you are meticulous, little things can throw you off. When you are careless, things build up and the stress is there in an overwhelming sense. It will be there. The only thing you can do is accepting the bad with the good.

So, before I get sucked into my little world of computer graphics and illustrations I plan to make sure my life is in order and organized. If I do this, getting down to business will feel more like a privilege as well as I will have a clear focus when I am ready to crack down on the task(s) at hand.

There are lots to keep a busy person motivated. I think the true challenge is being able to focus on “the now” and still feel motivated by the prize at the end of the road. I see people around me feeling overwhelmed by their work and I sometimes doubt their approach. I have faith in their ability to eventually overcome their state of distress and of course I admire their strength to not quit. The art of working hard and living stress-free is something I will continue to try and understand as well as master.

In Health, Pets, Writing (all kinds) on November 21, 2016 at 3:00 AM

Medical Facilities Corporation Reports First Quarter 2016 Financial Results and Appoints New Chief Executive Officer

In Writing (all kinds) on November 18, 2016 at 3:00 AM

TORONTO, May 12, 2016 /CNW/ – Medical Facilities Corporation (“Medical Facilities” or the “Company”) (TSX: DR), announced today its financial and operating results for the three months ended March 31, 2016.  All amounts are expressed in U.S. dollars unless indicated otherwise.

First Quarter 2016 Summary

  • Consolidated facility service revenue from continuing operations of $75.9 million, up 5.1% as compared with $72.2 million in Q1 2015
  • Consolidated income from continuing operations of $14.8 million, down 8.4% as compared with $16.2 million in Q1 2015
  • Cash available for distribution1 of Cdn$11.9 million, up 6.5% as compared with Cdn$11.2 million in Q1 2015
  • Payout ratio1 of 73.2% as compared with 78.5% in Q1 2015

“We experienced continued revenue growth in the quarter, driven primarily by higher case volumes recorded by all our specialty surgical hospitals, as well as higher pain management revenues”, said Seymour Temkin, interim CEO of Medical Facilities during Q1 2016. “While case and payor mix changes combined with higher general and administrative costs had a negative impact on operating income in the quarter, cash available for distribution and payout ratio were more favourable due to the Company’s exposure to the U.S./Canadian dollar exchange rate”.

“From our strong financial position, we look forward to an exciting future under the leadership of our newly-appointed CEO, Mr. Britt Reynolds“, Mr. Temkin added.  “Also, I am pleased to report that we have initiatives underway that should enhance our business model and revenue: Black Hills Urgent Care, a division of Black Hills Surgical Hospital, is expanding its footprint by adding a third location in Spearfish, South Dakota. As well, Sioux Falls Specialty Hospital has announced plans to purchase a CT scanner to enhance its offering of imaging services, and is increasing the size of some of its operating rooms to accommodate larger and more complex surgical cases”.

“We continue to investigate accretive acquisition opportunities that will provide reliable income and long-term value to our shareholders, to whom we have delivered 146 consecutive dividends since inception”, concluded Mr. Temkin.

_______________________________

1 Cash available for distribution and payout ratio are non-IFRS financial measures. While Medical Facilities believes that these measures are useful for the evaluation and assessment of its performance, they do not have any standard meaning prescribed by IFRS, are unlikely to be comparable to similar measures presented by other issuers, and should not be considered as alternatives to comparable measures determined in accordance with IFRS. For further information on these non-IFRS financial measures, including a reconciliation of each of these non-IFRS financial measures to the most directly comparable measure calculated in accordance with IFRS, please refer to Medical Facilities’ most recently filed management’s discussion and analysis, available on SEDAR at www.sedar.com.

Financial and Operating Results
Three months ended March 31, 2016
The Company generated cash available for distribution (“CAFD”) of Cdn$11.9 million, or Cdn$0.384 per common share, and declared dividends of Cdn$8.7 million, or Cdn$0.281 per common share, representing a payout ratio of 73.2% compared to 78.5% a year earlier. In U.S.-dollar terms, CAFD of US$8.7 million decreased by US$0.3 million primarily due to weaker cash flows from the Centers partially offset by a favourable variance from foreign currency losses on foreign exchange forward contracts in the prior year.

Consolidated facility service revenue from continuing operations (“revenue”) was $75.9 million, an increase of $3.7 million or 5.1% from $72.2 million a year earlier, which was primarily attributable to the increased revenues from surgical cases and the net contribution to revenue from Integrated Medical Delivery, LLC, which were partially offset by unfavourable changes in payor and case mix.

Consolidated operating expenses from continuing operations, including salaries and benefits, drugs and supplies, general and administrative costs, depreciation of property and equipment, and amortization of other intangibles, (“consolidated expenses”) totalled$61.1 million, or 80.5% of revenue, compared with consolidated expenses of $56.1 million, or 77.6% of revenue, a year ago. The increase in consolidated expenses was primarily attributable to increased activity at the Centers, annual salary increases and costs associated with the orthopedic service line management agreement at Sioux Falls Specialty Hospital.

Consolidated income from continuing operations was $14.8 million, or 19.5% of revenue, a $1.4 million or 8.4% decrease from consolidated income from continuing operations of $16.2 million, or 22.4% of revenue for the same period a year ago, reflecting an increase in consolidated expenses partially offset by growth in revenue.

Total consolidated income from continuing operations was $0.7 million, or a loss of $0.19 per share (basic and fully diluted) compared with total consolidated income from continuing operations of $17.8 million, or $0.34 per share (basic) and $0.04 per share (fully diluted), for the same period in 2015. The decline of $17.1 million or 95.9% in total consolidated income from continuing operations was primarily due to the impact of the increases in the values of exchangeable interest liability and convertible debentures, as well as weaker performance of the Centers, which were partially offset by a decline in income taxes and gain on foreign currency.

As at March 31, 2016, the Company had consolidated net working capital of $82.9 million, including cash and cash equivalents and short-term investments of $73.8 million and accounts receivable of $40.1 million, compared with net working capital of $85.7 million, including cash and cash equivalents and short-term investments of $70.9 million and accounts receivable of $48.8 million, as at December 31, 2015. Long-term debt at the Centers’ level, including the current portion, was $39.0 million as at March 31, 2016 compared with $35.4 million as at December 31, 2015.

Medical Facilities’ complete first quarter 2016 financial statements and management’s discussion and analysis will be issued and filed on SEDAR at www.sedar.com on Thursday, May 12, 2016 and will be available on the same day on Medical Facilities’ website atwww.medicalfacilitiescorp.ca.

Normal Course Issuer Bid (“NCIB”)
The Company repurchases its common shares in the open market. By repurchasing and cancelling its common shares, Medical Facilities reduces the total amount of dividends payable, resulting in cash savings for the Company. The remaining shareholders benefit from the NCIB as the distributable cash per share increases. During the three months ended March 31, 2016, the Company purchased 67,500 of its common shares at an average price of Cdn$13.55 per share, for a total consideration of Cdn$0.9 million.

As at March 31, 2016, the Company had 31,045,945 common shares outstanding.

Notice of Conference Call
Management of Medical Facilities will host a conference call today, Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 8:30 am ET to discuss its first quarter 2016 financial results. You can join the call by dialing 647.427.7450 or 1.888.231.8191. Once These Are Done - Toilet Paper Puppet Dolls

Once These Are Done – Toilet Paper Puppet Dolls

I was walking to Chester Public School in Toronto, part of what is commonly known by most Torontonians as Greektown. My family lived in a two-bedroom apartment and there were five of us. My Mom and Dad were in one room and my brother, sister and I had the other room. Three single beds all stacked up side-by-side – wow…did we ever have fun having easy access to our siblings as play partners. I do not remember there being a lot of room for toys. We did get very creative though. Finished toilet paper rolls became puppet dolls. You see, there is an art form to making puppet dolls with finished toilet paper rolls.

In Writing (all kinds) on November 13, 2016 at 1:35 PM
Love to all #SoulBirdsWorldWide

SongVersation: Healing the Heavy Heart

A SongVersation is: A performance paradigm I created using words and music to reach the HEAD and the HEART.
and THIS SongVersation is called: Healing a Heavy Heart – because I need it and I know, someone out there needs it too.

NOTE: To those new to SongVersation – All colored text is LINKS

On election night, with a heavy heart, I sent this  tweet

( and many others)…

My mission statement for the entirety of my 15 year career has been:

“To spread love, healing, peace, and joy through the power of words and music.”

While so many things that have happened in the world in recent years that have emboldened me in that mission my mission is the same.

What’s new is that the outcome of this election has made me hungry to release new music!!!

ON November 27th I will release a new single!!!!  BREATHE – (click the link to see a live performance ) so look for that!

ALSO!! A NEW ALBUM!!!!!  called “WORTHY“(link to IG Video of me singing worthy).  THAT is happening soon! Around February!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!

Today – I offer this song!  that I actually wrote for myself at a time when I needed healing, AND, I wrote it for my God-Mother at a time when SHE needed healing ( after a surgery).  GIVE THANKS this song Is an actual prayer.

In the great scheme of things the world will keep turning and there will be GRAND BEAUTY and GREAT DISASTERS – and there is no way around ANY OF IT – so let us live in the moment and let us all GIVE THANKS for this life we live, even when its hard.

And, may we all remember There’s Hope.  Hope is not just expectation. In a spiritual sense, I believe that HOPE,  it is a living current like LOVE. So Keep the HOPE that things will evolve and come around for the better … because that is how life works.

Gaiser Construction (Originally Published in Canadian Builders Quarterly)

In Business, Writing (all kinds) on November 13, 2016 at 3:00 AM

Bruce Gaiser got into a pinch back in the late 1980s and 1990s when he started doing business with Native reserves in Manitoba. The cash flow of the business dried up, “I decided I would work for more credible companies, like school boards, government, provincial boards, municipalities, cities, now we’re getting more into the design build,” says Gaiser. “You solicit the general contractors which is what we do, this is how the owner decides which builder to go with. Competitive build is what it is called. Back in the early 90s you would get 10 and 11 guys bidding on a job, now you would get about three. You can be more selective about who you deal with. Honing in on what we are good at.”

Brikena Ribaj Rocks to Taylor Swift

By Brikena Ribaj

Today I rocked to country.

Yes. I did.

I rocked to country music.

The reason I say this twice is because, well, for lack of a better phrase, I don’t do country. I don’t know why. I just can’t. I am not attracted to it. I never was. While I’m sure that country music feeds many people, it doesn’t manage to feed me in any way. Not even with carbs. It’s a preference issue, you see. For example, I love Verdi, Wagner, Beethoven, and Mozart but I don’t care for Schumann. I love Indie rock but basically everything about Grunge bothers me. And, yes, Nirvana is an exception. Kurt Cobain is bigger than any genre. And I loved him. Very much. I still do. “Smells Like Teen Spirit” continues to be a high-frequency track. It’s not grunge, it’s classic. So there are exceptions within certain genres, of course.

416-808-7100

As I meet with the people of the city at many events, including numerous town halls, among the subjects that are raised, the new look of our police cars has come up often. There are people who like them. There are people who don’t like them.

The concern that has been expressed has convinced me that further work is necessary.

I have decided to stop the rollout of the new-look police cars immediately. We will not be ordering any new gray police cars. We will set up opportunities for consultation, before we go any further.

Okay, so Toronto’s morale doesn’t seem to be out of whack at all. Maybe a little unfocused but somehow people are remaining happy even with the increasingly gross trails of garbage leading from overflowing containments. Are we to improvise and use our creative minds to construct this trash into something we can all gawk at? We need to come up with something.

130 million thanks! The Exceptional Care for Exceptional Kids Campaign is a resounding success

In Writing (all kinds) on November 9, 2016 at 3:00 AM

MONTREAL, May 11, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ – As the Exceptional Care for Exceptional Kids Campaign comes to a close, the entire Shriners community extends a huge thank-you to its exceptional donors. The Campaign raised an extraordinary $130,650,327, exceeding the goal of $130 million. The funds supported the construction of the new Shriners Hospital for Children®Canada, which opened on October 5, 2015, and the Francis Glorieux Chair in Pediatric Musculoskeletal Research.

“Our goal was not only attained but surpassed thanks to the outstanding leadership of our Imperial Potentate Jerry G. Gantt alongside Richard J. and Carolyn E. Renaud, Peter Letko and Deborah Josephson, M.D., our National Campaign Co-Chairs,” says Mr. Gino Berretta, Chairman of the hospital’s Board of Governors. “None of this could have been accomplished without the dedication and support of all the business and Shriner volunteers who actively shared our goal to raise funds. Today, we can celebrate the realization of our new “dream” hospital thanks to the overwhelming generosity of over 6,000 donors!”

“Over the past little while, people have been thanking us for volunteering to chair the Exceptional Care for Exceptional KidsCampaign. While it has been an honour to lead this historic five-year initiative, our time as Co-Chairs has shown us that the success of the campaign has been a true collective effort,” says Richard Renaud. “Thanks to every single donor, we were able to construct this beautifully designed and spacious hospital and acquire top-notch medical equipment. Our donors enabled us to open a state-of-the-art research centre which will accelerate discoveries in musculoskeletal disorders. Thanks to all of them, children and families from across Canada, parts of the United States and around the world have access to cutting-edge paediatric orthopedic care.”

“Our new hospital is a beautiful and functional building, one that we can be so proud of within our network of hospitals,” says Dale W. Stauss, Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Shriners Hospitals for Children. “I wish to congratulate our volunteer corporate leaders and staff members who have led the Exceptional Care for Exceptional Kids Campaign to successful fruition.

History of the Exceptional Care for Excetional Kids Campaign

The five-year Exceptional Care for Exceptional Kids Campaign began in 2011 and launched publically on May 13, 2014. It was the first-ever capital campaign undertaken by the Canada Shriners Hospital and the most successful campaign every undertaken by the network of 22 Shriners Hospitals for Children, which are located in Canada, United States and Mexico.

“With our children and their families in mind, we created a warm and welcoming hospital,” says Imperial Potentate Jerry G. Gantt. “The building itself is beautiful, each floor designed to reflect a different region of Canada from the Atlantic to the Pacific and the Great North; each floor is designed to be a place of healing, a haven for the children and families who turn to us for care. But it is much more than a building. It is a place where researchers work side by side with clinicians to find the cause of bone disorders and endeavor to find better treatments and new cures. It is a place where we will offer new state-of-the-art services such as movement analysis and pediatric simulation training. A place where we will focus on improving the lives of the children we treat, the care they receive and the training we provide to up-and-coming healthcare professionals.”

The construction of the new hospital began in April 2013. The new building is almost three times larger than the former hospital, which was located on Cedar Avenue in Montreal. The new Shriners Hospital for Children – Canada features a range of new services and technologies including 22 single-patient rooms, four surgical suites including one designed specifically for back surgery and a 200-seat education centre to enhance the hospital’s teaching mission.

Numerous events helped raise funds for the new hospital

Events are part of the success of any fundraising campaign and the Canada Shriners Hospital benefitted from the dedication of many individuals, families and groups who organized walks, dinners and even ran a lemonade stand in support of the campaign.

There were also a number of major hospital fundraising events such as the Shriners Hospitals for Children – Canada Annual Golf Tournament organized by Gino Berretta, Benito Migliorati Robert Burns, and Michel Poirier. In October last year, Joey and Carmie Saputo were the honorary co-presidents of the dazzling One and Only Ball. And on May 10, National Co-Chairs Richard J. Renaud and Peter Letko made their stand-up comedy debut at the Humour Me Montreal /Fais-moi rire Montréal fundraiser, an event founded by Mr. David Goodman.

“STEP UP and Be Safe,” Pedestrian campaign, Monday, November 7, 2016 until Sunday, November 13, 2016

Traffic Services
416-808-1900

Traffic safety continues to be identified as a Service priority, with an increased focus on pedestrian safety, especially seniors.

Collision analysis has shown that pedestrian fatalities represent approximately 60% of yearly traffic fatalities in Toronto. This year, 36 pedestrians have lost their lives. This represents over 52% of the total of all traffic fatalities in Toronto, from January 2016 to date. Seniors, in particular, are among the most vulnerable sector of road users. This year there have been 23 senior pedestrian fatalities, representing over 63% of pedestrian fatalities.

The “STEP UP and Be Safe”- Pedestrian Campaign will begin on Monday, November 7, 2016 and will run until Sunday, November 13, 2016. The Service will continue to be diligent in education and associated enforcement strategies to enhance pedestrian safety within our communities. November, the month that Daylight Savings Time is introduced, has traditionally been the month when pedestrians are involved in the most collisions.

All police officers and parking enforcement officers will be paying particular attention to those motorists, cyclists and pedestrians who commit offences in the vicinity of pedestrian crossovers, crosswalks, intersections, school zones (particularly primary schools) and crossing areas frequented by seniors. Pedestrians are encouraged to avoid using distracting electronic devices when interacting with vehicular traffic.

They protect your feet from extreme cold when playing in the snow. Military personnel use them to keep the pads of their feet from burning up on the hot ground of Afghanistan. Broken glass and other hazards won’t hurt you because of these boots. You are a dog, after all, and you don’t always pay attention to where you’re walking whether you’re just fooling around or saving lives.

I don’t see as much of my brother as I would like to, however, we got together for my aunt’s wedding and Father’s Day the day after. He’s busy working all summer. It has been weird being away from home. It has been especially weird since when I do visit home I notice the changes. My brother going away to school and then away working hard. My younger brother, I had considered the day we would both leave home but I was never ready for it.

Some People Will Do Anything to Blow Things Up - Photo Courtesy of MorgueFile.com

By Rachel Muenz

It begins with a flash of light just below the windows of the aircraft. Then, the fuselage buckles outward and bursts into thousands of pieces which flutter to the ground like shreds of paper. A cloud of thick smoke engulfs half the plane. A shot from inside shows the craft rocking to one side as the floor begins to disintegrate, the camera lens going black as everything is destroyed.
