Public Safety Alert, Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) Fraud Alert

The Toronto Police Service has been receiving numerous complaints of an ongoing Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) scam involving Apple iTunes Gift Cards and would like to make the public aware of such incidents.

The CRA will not ask for overdue tax payments to be made by Apple iTunes Gift Cards. As well, the CRA will not request the access/PIN code for any iTunes cards purchased.

The CRA will not be sending police officers in less than an hour to arrest individuals for immediate non-payments.

If you have been contacted by someone claiming to be an agent for the CRA, please be aware and cautious regarding the information you are providing. Do not be afraid to ask for any credentials and to ask for a phone number to call once you have confirmed all the credentials. Also, contact your local police to report the incident.
