Exciting news for youth this summer…
The Spotlighting and Promoting African Canadian Experiences (SPACE) Initiative, in the Harriet Tubman Institute for Research on Africa and Its Diasporas at York University invites youth ages 14-18 (or grade 9 to grade 12) to participate in its seventh Student Summer Program, “An Introduction to African Diasporas.”
During fun and creative sessions, students will:
Explore historical and contemporary experiences of African descended persons.
Examine identity making amongst African, Afro-Caribbean, Afro-Latin American, Afro-Brazilian, African American, and African Canadian peoples.
Consider how the ideologies of race and gender function in different societies.
Learn about, participate in and make their own African inspired cultural productions.
Experienced educators, facilitators, volunteers and students from York University will deliver all of the sessions. We are certain students will come away from the program having made new friends, probed their imaginations and gained artistic skills. Most importantly, they will leave with greater knowledge about the contributions of African peoples and cultures to the historical development of the world.
The program will run daily, Monday to Friday, for two weeks, from July 4 to July 15, 2016 at York University, from 8:30 am — 3:30 pm. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Today, Chief Mark Saunders launched a new, innovative website called How We Do It TPS.

In addition, every Division of the Service has a How We Do It TPS photo board in its main lobby. These photos will be taken by members, of members, and will recognize the daily accomplishments of colleagues and community.

By sharing our successes, the campaign aims to instil a sense of pride in the Toronto Police Service, not just for members, but for community partners and the public.

ZODIAC SIGNS PREDICTIONS FOR THE WEEK 20th June – 26th June

In Writing (all kinds) on June 20, 2016 at 3:00 AM

new_500

Aries ( 21 March – 19 April ) – This period suggests something of great future significance is in a budding stage. A reinvented life is waiting in the wings. The week ushers in a productive new chapter, especially regarding work and health mandates.  The stars are highly activated. The period can put you back into a social swing, and open you up to bright new potentials. You are on a fast-track lifestyle. A new location, vocation, or relationship appears to offer great potential. It is a stage-setting week. Stay on top of what you need to. Favorable Date : June 24 Favorable Color : Green

Taurus ( 20 April – 20 May ) – This week is an appropriate time to redo business cards, promotional materials, advertising programs, and the like. Concentrate on getting yourself better organized and take care of that pile up before it gets any worse. Remember to allow added flexibility in your schedule, and while you hitting the due diligence stride, ask more questions or get a couple of price quotes before you settle on the service. Watch for your intuition to kick in stronger. As the week advances you should find you can strip it down to your better bets and create more effectiveness for yourself. Favorable Date : June 25  Favorable Color : Red

Gemini ( 21 May – 20 June ) – This week could deliver an important announcement or a chance to meet up with an influential person. It can also be a lucrative week to deal with important negotiations, contract agreements, talks, or bank matters. This week is best to flush out the weak links, so know that no matter what it looks like in the immediacy of the moment, it will prove productive. The cycle is set to reveal the flaws in your rationalizations, justifications, or plans. This period can launch a practical side or draw your attention to the mundane necessities. Part 5 is here!!!‏ – India.Arie

In Writing (all kinds) on June 19, 2016 at 3:19 PM
SongVersation:I Am Light
The final essay, Part 5 – Worthy IS HERE!!!!
June 19, 2016

Here we are!

The conclusion of SongVersation: I Am Light  essays with

Part 5 –  Worthy!!!

& Facebook life chat with Super Soul Sessions!!!!!!!

When I launched this SongVersation, (form the road on the  Songs in the Key of Life Tour ) back in march 2015 – I NEVER NEVER NEVER EXPECTED … NEVER. EVER. expected – it to be this involved or spread out or far reaching – but I am grateful for how far we’ve come.
Those of you following closely know, I have been poised to release the final SongVersation Essay – Part 5 since the top of the year but some how it felt like the timing wasn’t my choice – so I went with the flow.

Today as I write this, – the 30 pages I HAD written as part 5 – have been archived for later use ( more about that at a later date)

A NEW (3rd version of)  part 5 – is born and it’s here!

Download Part 5 here.

Download Part 5.1 here.

Why?

What I now realize I was waiting for is … Oprah!  Super Soul Sessions, andSupersoul.tv.

In January of 2016 Oprah released a 7 part documentary series called  #Belief ( have you see that?) At the after party,  I asked Sherri Salata from OWN if she would read my SongVersation essays, she did, and  Weeks later an invitation to bring SongVersation to camera, with OPRAH!!  came!!!!!!!!! LITERALLY A DREAM COME TRUE. You can watch it here!!

It all made sense – why part 5 kept being delayed.

The synchronicitys are AMAZING

This is the most important part of the essays – it is the point of it all. To share my deepest truth with the intention that it will touch who ever it is meant for in the way they are meant to be touched.

And super soul session elevated that intention – literally and figuratively.
So, heres how its going to work.

SongVersation: I Am Light part 5  (and part 5.1) – WORTHY

Is a combination of – A TRANSCRIPT of my SongVersation: Worthy  talk on Super Soul Sessions with lots of added thoughts that I DIDNT share in that talk.

As you read the transcript-  (as has been the hall mark of this SongVersation essay series)  – you will see many links ( in blue) to other things that complete the SongVersation.

These is very important, more than in the previous parts of SongVersation: I am Light – you’ll understand why when you read it. So make sure you click all blue links to get the full SongVersation experience.

ALSO: SongVersation: I am Light part 5 – Worthy is broken down into two parts – 5 and 5.1

so make SURE YOU READ BOTH PARTS!!!

AND!! SongVersation: I am Light part 5 – Worthy, for the first time ANYWHERE,  shares my personal spiritual practice.

i’m REALLY excited for you to read this.

Now!

HERES THE OTHER THING!

Thursday June 16 ( enter time) I did a Facebook Live chat in conjunction with Super Soul Sessions!!!

I had so much fun!! To watch it click here.
And as always, if you feel it, email me: Iamlight@soulbird.com

For reading and following along,  I Love you.

and I Thank you, THANK You. THANK YOU!

India Arie

P.S. I have received MANY emails, and I try to answer one a day – if I haven answered you back yet – keep a space open for me – I hope to eventually get to EVERYONE. But know, I read ALL of them.

This is a boxed text block. You can use it to draw attention to important content.

“The COMPLETE MUHAMMAD ALI”

Ishmael Reed speaking to Amy Goodman on the Democracy Now Interview ‘The Greatest”:
“Now, now, now, one more thing—Amy, I want to mention this. Ernie Terrell was considered the Mob fighter….my book was published in Canada. And so, some of my passages have a Canadian emphasis. There was a showdown between organized crime, which ran boxing, up (against) the Nation of Islam and the organization called Main Bouts. The showdown happened in Toronto. Ali and Herbert Muhammad were warned that if Ali didn’t take a dive and didn’t, you know, fall to Ernie Terrell, he would wind up at the bottom of Lake Michigan. Now, according to George Chuvalo, whom Ali fought, the man who made the threat was paid a visit by the Nation of Islam. And if you want to know what happened after that, you can read my book.”

In Writing (all kinds) on June 13, 2016 at 3:00 AM

new_500

Aries ( 21 March – 19 April )- Something or someone unexpected, even extraordinary, could capture your attention. Watch for a special event, a sudden turn of events, or for key person to make a significant entrance or exit. There can be lost opportunities, lost moments, or the ignition of exceptional potentials. The week suggest it is the right time to put maximum attention on  forming alliances or accords, group endeavours, participation, social networks, and increasing your public profile.. Experiment with a new approach, change your advertising strategies, hire a new lawyer, accountant, agent, representative, or health consultant. Favorable Date : June 19 Favorable Color : Yellow

Taurus ( 20 April – 20 May )   – It is time to get  more ambitious and kick it into higher gear. Uproot or relocate as you see fit. Travel could make you feel like an alien in your own home – perhaps you are wise to consider a sublet at either end. Timeshare properties or shared office space could be viable options too. While the general economic climate suggests we all have to work harder for the same dime, when it comes to personal or professional circumstances, you will not have to struggle to force matters along. Relationships with co-workers or team members can require added grooming or flexibility. Give others the benefit of the doubt. Favorable Date : June 13  Favorable Color : Purple

Gemini ( 21 May – 20 June)  –  A very exciting month lays ahead, one that is richly peppered with opportunity and potential. Your business or career could see a significant take-off, perhaps it will go in an unexpected direction. It is quite likely that your life is already showing visible signs of stepping forward and that you have already harnessed in for the ride with great anticipation and high hopes. Sunday, June 12, 20167:14 PM
Traffic Services
416-808-1900

The Toronto Police Service is continuing to focus its efforts on encouraging safe cycling as a practical mode of transportation in our city.

The Service will be launching the S.P.A.C.E. to Cycle campaign, starting on Monday, June 13, 2016. The campaign (Safety, Prevention, Awareness, Courtesy, Education) will conclude on Sunday, June 19, 2016. This one-week campaign is designed to promote awareness and education by reducing the potential for cycling and wheel-sport-related injuries. Building partnerships and mobilizing local communities to respond to local traffic problems will assist in sustaining successful efforts and improve neighbourhood roadway safety.

Education and enforcement of cycling offences are critical to ensuring safe roadways for our communities. All frontline officers will be paying particular attention to those motorists whose actions endanger the lives of cyclists, for example, drivers failing to proceed through turns safely, opening vehicle doors improperly, and driving/parking in designated cycling lanes, all contribute to reduce cycling safety.

Officers will also be paying attention to cyclists who commit offences that endanger all road-users, including the cyclists themselves. Parking Enforcement Officers will assist with this initiative by concentrating on parking offences that may compromise the safety of cyclists.

Traffic Services is dedicated to ensuring the safe and orderly movement of traffic within the City of Toronto.Stay informed with what’s happening at:
