Most people need to have some entertainment in their lives to feel complete. Here are some tips on how you can save money with some forms of entertainment, as well as avoid expensive ones:

· Music makes the world go around many people say and you can cut down on the expenses of buying music by going to the library. With the inexpensive cost of a library card, you could borrow all kinds of music and store it on your computer at home, creating a wonderful stereo system environment

· Linking to the music suggestion, a desktop or lap top computer is one of those things that may be even more important than having a radio or TV in your house. With your computer, you can watch TV from it, you can listen to the radio for news, you can read online stories (like this one), plus you can listen to music. Even with things like Skype you can carry on phone calls with people all over the world for a fraction of the cost you would pay to your phone service provider. Having a computer is vital now a days

· Make every effort to go to free events. In many major cities and even in smaller towns, there are so many free events that you can take advantage of to save on the cost of a really expensive time out. If you like to go dancing, take advantage of the free flyers people give you while you are out and about. This could be a great way to get into your favourite nightclub, or a new favourite nightclub you will discover

· Keep in mind that if you like art, galleries are also free and many major ones, including museums, have specials where you can go at reduced prices, or even for free on certain days and times

· If you have a favourite hobby that requires a lot of supplies, such as gaming, collecting stamps or even collecting dolls – check out websites such as Craigslist for information on how you may be able to find what you are looking for free. Most cities linked through Craigslist have a “free” section where you may find a real gem for your antique collection

· If you have a family, keep in mind that especially when your children are small – they will not be as demanding about the toys they play with. You really do not need to spend a lot of money on fancy toys when they will be just as excited with an old sock turned into a puppet. This will allow you to save your money for those times when they get older and their demands become a lot more expensive – such as a car

· If traveling is something that is a form of interesting entertainment for you, or you just really need to get out there and discover the world around you, there are many options. You could rent a video of a favourite place you would like to visit such as Malaysia and live the experience of travel there from the comfort of your chair. The other alternative is that even right in your own city or town, you can take a tour bus and visit all the tourist places that you probably have not seen since you were in grade school on field trips. This is a great way to get to discover the city where you live

· If you are a sports fan and want to save on the high cost of sporting events tickets, first you can start a group-buying club with people you work with. This may be a great way to save on the price of two tickets if you buy in bulk by getting a big group together. Many young people are into sports too and you may find that just by going to the little league and hockey games of your son or daughter may satisfy the need to be at a big professional sporting event. As well, many local parks also have semi-professional teams that you can watch – absolutely free

· For some people, smoking and drinking is a form of entertainment. Imagine how much money you can save by at least cutting down these activities or eliminating them all together. Going for a walk is free, something like smoking can cost about $4,000 a year. It’s tough; however giving it a try is also good for your health.

Enjoy your entertainment; however try to save money too.
