On Monday, May 16, 2016, at 11 a.m., at Toronto Police Service headquarters, 40 College Street, the Toronto Chapter of MADD Canada will be unveiling a public bench outside the front entrance to raise awareness about impaired driving.

Educating Torontonians about the dangers of impaired driving is an important part of MADD Toronto’s work. The bench reminds people about the impact impaired driving has on victims and their families, and also serves as a special tribute to all those who have been touched by this terrible crime.

Their goal is to make people see that impaired driving is simply not worth the risk – not to the innocent people who may be involved in a crash and not to the individual making the choice to get behind the wheel impaired.

Impaired driving injuries and deaths are 100 per cent preventable. Yet they continue to occur regularly. On average, four Canadians are killed and 175 are injured every day in Canada by impairment-related crashes. Approximately 65,000 Canadians are affected by impaired drivers annually. MADD Canada and its many Chapters and Community Leaders work to stop impaired driving and to support victims and survivors.
