ZODIAC SIGNS PREDICTIONS FOR THE WEEK ( 2nd May – 8th May )

In Writing (all kinds) on April 30, 2016 at 3:00 AM

new_500

Aries ( 21 March – 19 April  ) – You’ll be more focused on work than on play — much to the chagrin of your dear ones. You’ll need plenty of privacy in order to see things as they really are. Even if you work with people all the time, try to take time for yourself so you can see where you need to go. Restlessness sets in with a vengeance during weekend. You would  look for an escape of some kind, and you might not feel especially choosy.  Get into the social swing of things during weekend , when you’ll be rewarded with mind- and heart-expanding connections. Favorable Date : May 7 Favorable Color : Red

Taurus ( 20 April – 20 May ) –  You’ll be enjoying lots of freedom, travel and new experiences.  The period will also bring along a chance for you to start a new hobby — the kind that could put you in touch with someone new, exciting and just fiery enough to keep you interested. Don’t pass this one up! Both the hobby and the new person could be exactly what you’ve been waiting for. Singles can soar through this season, while couples might plan a great escape together. Keep your eyes open for someone who’s extremely sensual and quite focused on you.  Favorable Date : May 8 Favorable Color : Yellow

Gemini ( 21 May – 20 June)  – You’ll be far more sensitive to the needs and feelings of others, and more willing to stifle yourself. You’ll be intent on getting closer to someone you’ve only been thinking of casually for some time now. It’s time to put intimacy on the front burner. Whether it’s emotional, physical or intellectual doesn’t matter, you will bare your soul with confidence. Be sure you’re ready for a committed relationship — because that’s exactly what they’ll have in mind. .Just don’t let your work slide. You have your reputation to think of. Favorable Date : May 2 Favorable Color : Red Read the rest of this entry »

ZODIAC SIGNS PREDICTIONS FOR THE WEEK 25th April – 1st May 2016

In Writing (all kinds) on April 23, 2016 at 3:00 AM

new_500

Aries ( 21 March – 19 April ) – This week presents you with the opportunity to see life through clear lenses rather than the clouds. This is a great time to sort through those piles that seem so easy to accumulate. There is a lot of energy directed at you, and how you choose to utilize this energy, will play a part in your life for a considerable amount of time. Your love life will be in for a shock as one close to your heart will reveal a message that will change the nature of your relationship.  Remain calm and use understanding and patience to guide you.  Favorable Date : April 26 Favorable Color : White

Taurus ( 20 April – 20 May ) – There will be a lot of behind the scenes details that need attention for the week to come. Be careful not to confine yourself whereby you become reclusive. Meditation is important in efforts to decompress from your workload. New friendships and associations are magnified if you open up. Business income increases after 13th. Some colleagues may become friendly and want to spend time with you outside of the work place. Give time to your spirituality and overall  life philosophy. Favorable Date : April 29 Favorable Color : Red

Gemini ( 21 May – 20 June)  – Productivity serves you well now. You’re likely being pulled away from your work by the lure of fun. But it’s time to pay attention to getting the job done. You’ll have some decisions to make regarding what you do to earn money. Trust your intuition when it comes to unspoken messages.  Actions speak louder than words, and if and when you sense a potential for chaos, go with your gut and establish a tone of peace. Slow and steady wins the race this week. Favorable Date : May 1 Favorable Color : Yellow Read the rest of this entry »

Cultural home design (Originally Published in New Dreamhomes and Condominiums Magazine)

Many people enjoy accenting their décor with accessories and furniture pieces that reflect their cultural heritage. An Inusktut from Aboriginal culture, a painting of a Spanish village or a bonsai plant from Japanese culture can be reflected in a home by people of that culture and also by people not directly from that culture.

“For White Folks Who Teach in the Hood…and the Rest of Y’all Too: Reality Pedagogy and Urban Education”

BY DISTINGUISHED EDUCATOR, DR CHRISTOPHER EMDIN

Drawing on his own experience, Dr. Christopher Emdin offers a new lens on an approach to teaching and learning in urban schools. He begins by taking to task the perception of urban youth of color as unteachable, and he challenges educators to embrace and respect each student’s culture and to reimagine the classroom as a site where roles are reversed and students become the experts in their own learning.

With this fresh and engaging new pedagogical vision, Emdin demonstrates the importance of creating a family structure and building communities within the classroom, using culturally relevant strategies like hip-hop music and call-and-response, and connecting the experiences of urban youth to indigenous populations globally. Merging real stories with theory, research, and practice, Emdin demonstrates how by implementing the “Seven C’s” of reality pedagogy in their own classrooms, urban youth of color benefit from truly transformative education.

Toronto Police Service celebrates International Day of Pink with students

On Wednesday, April 13, 2016, the Toronto Police Service, in partnership with the students at Harbord Collegiate Institute, celebrated the International Day of Pink by highlighting student-based, anti-bullying initiatives and an awareness video created by members of the Service’s Lesbian Gay Bisexual Trans Queer (LGBTQ) Internal Support Network.

Students at Harbord Collegiate Institute have been spending the last several weeks developing anti-bullying campaigns and displayed them for the first time at the celebration. Projects included dance and spoken-word performances, videos and other presentations by various student groups.

This year, students heard from special guest speaker Olympic gymnast Rosie Cossar, who shared her story with the students. Also bringing a strong message was Ottawa Senators owner, Eugene Melnyk, who spoke about his personal feelings toward LGBTQ-based bullying.

“LGBTQ youth face bullying, harassment and discrimination on a daily basis,” said Chief Mark Saunders. “We need to remember to stand up and support this community, not just on the International Day of Pink, but every day going forward. I am committed to leading the way on behalf of the Toronto Police Service and especially for my LGBTQ members.”

The International Day of Pink started when a Nova Scotia teen was bullied for wearing a pink shirt to school. His fellow students rallied by all wearing pink and showed their solidarity against LGBT-based discrimination.

The Toronto Police Service would like to thank the following community partners for their support and dedication to making this year’s International Day of Pink event a success:

– Toronto Police Service LGBTQ Community Consultative Committee
– Harbord Collegiate Institute
– Toronto District School Board
– Amazing Party Store
– Balloon Celebrations

For anyone who is a victim of bullying, has witnessed bullying, or who is a bully, there are resources available. Please visit any of the following websites for support:

These theories come from an ancient science that you may or may not believe in known as numerology. Some of these methods can help you personalize your living space and when in doubt, you can always go to a colour consultant.
