TVOKids kicks off its Fall 2011 season on September 5 with a lineup of on-air and online, curriculum-based children’s shows and web games that reaffirms TVO as an innovator in multimedia children’s content and programming. According to a 2011 IPSOS Reid Omnibus survey, Ontarians rate TVO as both the “most trusted” and the “most educational” media brand for children in Canada.

GISÈLE’S BIG BACKYARD and THE SPACE
On Gisèle’s Big Backyard, TVOKids’ early learning block for kids aged 2 to 6, rock star Wonda Wonder Words is the Backyard’s newest character who will introduce early learners to new words. Gisèle’s puppet friend, Tia, will explore simple elements of science with a new series Explore Galore beginning in October. Gisèle and her many friends will also be learning about healthy eating and science as they cultivate a community shared garden in Community Vegetable Garden: Get Growing. And throughout the block, host Gisele and her friends will show how simple daily activities mean you’re moving. It’s part of TVOKids’ Million Ways To Move campaign encouraging kids to stay active.
The Million Ways to Move campaign continues on TVOKids’ The Space, Ontario’s only live and interactive block for school-aged kids. In hosted breaks from 3:30 pm to 7 pm TVOKids’ Kara, Drew and Dalmar will talk to children live and ask them how they find new ways to move. Tumbleweed, everyone’s favourite hamster, is back with Tumbletown Tale$, learning how to balance his bank account and why money matters. And Inside Tumbetown teaches media literacy by taking kids behind the scenes of how Tumbletown Reads was produced.
And on the last Monday of the month on The Space, TVOKids Hotline will tackle issues kids need to talk about., and TVOKids Homework Zone with Teachers Troy, Aldo, Wynne, and Mark will help kids with their homework questions.

An adorable blue alien named Jack and his pet dog Rocket befriend a group of Earth kids. Through a series of adventures, Jack teaches the kids concepts in science. Stories include: How does an earthquake happen? What’s a black hole? What causes avalanches?

Based on the books by Lara Jones, this animated series for early learners from Coolabi Productions and Rollo Films follows Poppy Cat, a fun-loving orange tabby, and her animal friends who take imaginative play to new heights.
